Exterior Door & Window Details

Techincal Drawings of Doors & Windows

Our exterior doors and windows are built to the highest standards using the best materials available to stand to the weather. Window sash and frame corners are mortise & tenon construction. Doors and some specialty windows are stub tenon and dowel construction using strong rot resistant dowels imported from Germany. We can finish with clear or stained Sikkins or water based finishes. Painted windows can be shop primed.

Depending on the weather exposure we can use many different woods: CVG Fir, Western Red Cedar, Alaskan Yellow Cedar and Pine. These are western timbers and go well with the vernacular - Mining, Southwest, and Western architecture in the San Juan Mountains. Also used are Mahogany, Sipo, Sapelle, Teak and Spanish Cedar.

It is possible to do split species with a weather resistant wood to the outside with inside made of Knotty Alder, Maple, Cherry or any other wood to match interior finishes.
